The players stand about the playing space in groups of three. The centre players are designated Foxes. Two extra players are chosen one of whom is the 'Hound', the other a 'Fox'. The Hound chases the fox who can escape by touching another fox and occupying his place, who then seeks to escape in a similar manner. It adds interest if the changes are made as frequently as possible, ie. short runs to safety. If the hound tags the fox before he reaches safely, their roles are reversed.
